About this course
Two Higher Grade passes, or equivalent, with at least one from mathematics, physics, technological studies or computing; or three intermediate 2 passes at Grade B, plus SGA Intermediate 2 in Engineering. NC Electronics, Mechatroincs or equivalent is also acceptable. Students with relevant experience may be considered for entry without formal qualifications.

Course Aims:

Course Content:
Single Phase AC. Applications of Programmable Logic Controllers. Electrical Networks. Combinational Logic. Sequential Logic. High Level Engineering Software. Analogue Electronic Principles. Maths for Electronic & Electrical Engineering. Electronic Construction Skills. Electronic Testing Skills. Communications.
Progression Opportunities:
Successful completion allows progression onto Year 2 HND Electronics, BSc Electronics (ususally 2nd year) and BEng Electronics (usually first year).
Career Potential:
Due to the high technical levelof skills and knowledge within this course, students can find employment in a wide range of industries including telecommunications, manufacturing, avionics, computer networking, integrated circuit manufacturing and building services.
Course Assessment:
This course is assessed by written tests, practical laboratory exercises and assignments. At the end of the course an external exam is also undertaken.
