About this course

One Higher Grade pass, preferably English, and two Standard Grades/ Intermediate 2 passes or a suitable group of SQA modules. Some applicants may be admitted without formal qualifications. All applicants are required to bring examples of their photographic work to an information session.

Course Aims:

Progression Opportunities:
Candidates can progress to year 2 of our HND with the addition of, optional units or to degree courses such as the BA Photography, offered at both Napier University and the University of Cumbria.

Career Potential:
Employment opportunities within a wide range of design related, fields including design consultancies, advertising agencies, print, companies, magazine and book publishers, newspaper industry,, marketing and PR, television, web and multimedia.

Course Assessment:
Knowledge and skills are assessed in a variety of ways, primarily, connected with project-based work. Candidates undertake a Graded Unit, designed to provide evidence that the principal aims of the qualification, have been achieved.
