HND Accounting

Course Aims:
This course aims to provide students with the skills necessary to pursue a career in accountancy. It introduces subject areas accounting students may choose to specialise in. Demand for students holding this qualification is particularly high. Successful students may progress onto degree level study.

Course Content:
Financial Reporting; Management Accounting; Auditing; Company Law; Income/Business Taxation; Financial Management; Strategic Management

Progression Opportunities:
The HND allows progression to the BA (hons) Accounting & Finance delivered at James Watt College (currently under review), Assosiation of Accounting Technicians, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA. In addition to these the HND will provide a routr for general access to a series of other university degrees.

Career Potential:
This course prepares students for a range of careers in banking and finance posts within the public and private sectors.

Course Assessment:
A variety of assesment methods are used through this course including a case study and examination.
