This course introduces and develops to a specialised standard the range of skills - acting, production, voice and movement - necessary for progression to professional performance training in threatre, television and film or in the field of community drama. A creative yet disciplined approach helps students to develop these skills through workshops and in public performances, with guest lectures.

About this course
Two Higher Grade passes to include drama and/or English, plus two Standard Grade/Intermediate 2 passes or a suitable group of SQA modules. Some applicants may be accepted without formal qualifications. An important part of the selection procedure will be an audition.

Course Aims:

Progression Opportunities:
Students may progress to BA Acting or BA Contemporary Theatre Practice at RSAMD, BA Acting or BA Theatre Studies at Queen Margaret University, BA Community Arts at the University of Strathclyde, BA performance at University of West of Scotland, Ba Performance or BA Musical Theatre at University of Cumbria or to year 2 or 3 of a variety of university drama courses in England and Wales.
Career Potential:
Most students progress to further training, although opportunities exsist for work in theatre, film, television, community drama, technical theatre and education.
Course Assessment:
A range of continious assessment tools are used including tutor observation and comment, checklists, written assigments and practical excercises. Public performances also provide the opportunity to asses all aspects of performance skills.
