About this course

Two Higher Grade passes at grade C or above, including English and two other passes at Standard Grade (or equivalent) at band 3 or above; or completion of a relevant National Qualification (NQ) including Core Skills Higher Communication (or equivalent) and appropriate subject modules.

KEY FEATURES
This course aims to train learners for work within the communication industries. The learner will develop an understanding of the nature and function of advertising and public relations within a wider marketing framework. The learner will develop a range of social skills to enable them to communicate effectively within this environment. The assessment methods include project work and assignments based around ?live? briefs and clients, and we have a number of industry speakers and visits. COURSE CONTENT

A selection of core units includes:
Advertising Campaign Planning; Public Relations Strategy; Media Research; Sales Promotion; Direct Marketing; Marketing Research Applications; Industrial Investigation (Industry Project); Corporate Identity; Consumer Behaviour; Personal Enterprise Skills.

A selection of optional units includes:
Optional units are available to suit career prospects or university transition.

PROGRESSION
Successful completion of the course can allow learners to work in advertising agencies, public relations consultancies and promotion consultancies or within the advertising departments of industrial, commercial or media-based companies. The course also allows entry to relevant degree courses at various universities, usually directly into 3rd year.
