Course Aims:
Designed for the student who seeks a career in a range of laboratory-based biosciences, this course provides you with the training and knowledge necessary for employment as a technician in hospital and research laboratories. Candidates who complete the HND may progress to a relevgant degree at various universities.

Progression Opportunities:
Candidates successfully completing the HND programme can progress to Year 3 in BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science or related degrees at various universities.

Career Potential:
Upon completion students should have skills required by employers in areas such as research and medical laboratory sciences, in addition to posts as operatives or technicians within biotechnology or microbiology-based companies. The HND also provides transferable skills suited to a wide range of occupations including scientific sales and writing.

Course Assessment:
There are no formal exams. Students are assessed throughout via a variety of formats ranging from essays to experiments and closed book tests.
