WHO IS THE COURSE FOR:

The 2 year HND course allows students to study Higher Education on the Island at an equivalent to the first two years of a full degree programme (with an opportunity to top-up on completion). Although full time, the course accommodates students who may wish to continue in part-time employment.

The HND offers the learner a business education that is vocationally relevant and stimulating. Students will gain a nationally recognised qualification that will equip them for employment in the dynamic world of business or progression to further studies at degree level and above.

It is likely that you would have just completed A Levels or a National Diploma although applications are welcome from mature students

HOW WILL I LEARN:

Attendance will normally be for 2 to 3 days a week with a requirement for reading and additional studies above the contact hours timetabled. Learning will be through lectures, group discussions and workshop activities in supportive small group environments with experienced teaching staff, alongside self-study.

The course will employ a variety of assessment opportunities through coursework and exams, including involvement in individual and group projects. This will give students the opportunity to enhance and practice their skills in informal settings while competencies gained are designed to be fully transferable to the workplace. Assessment will be continuous throughout the course with exams as additional assessment on most units.

WHAT CAN THIS COURSE LEAD TO:

Higher National Diplomas are valued by employers and can lead to a variety of career opportunities in areas such as management, marketing and finance or, progressing to further study via a BA (Hons) top-up opportunity at local Universities (part-time study options available) with an appropriate grade profile.

PLEASE NOTE:

This course is delivered under franchise from University of Portsmouth. This a full time Higher Education (HE) course and as such, applications need to be made through UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service)
