Throughout the course, learners will gather confidence in relating to clients and develop an appreciation of the limitations of the Complementary Therapist`s role. KEY FEATURES
This is a new advanced level course which develops skills in a variety of Complementary Therapies. Throughout the course, learners will gather confidence in relating to clients and develop an appreciation of the limitations of the Complementary Therapist`s role. During year 2 of the course, learners are involved in learning more advanced skills which build on, and extend beyond, those acquired in year 1. The course aim is to produce qualified practitioners, eligible for professional membership and insurance within the field of Complementary Therapies.
COURSE CONTENT
A selection of core units includes:
Complementary Therapies: Anatomy and Physiology; Aromatherapy; Reflexology; Stress Management; Perspectives of Health; Lifestyle Advice; Seated Massage; Chinese Elements; Clinical Practice.

PROGRESSION
To assist in potential employment, learners may choose to participate in one or more of the following ILA approved subjects as a separate course: Indian Head Massage; Stone Therapy; Advanced Aromatherapy; Seated Massage.
Learners who successfully complete the HND course can seek employment or self employment within the field of Complementary Therapies. The course also enables access to the 3rd year of the new BA Hons Degree in Complementary Health Care at Edinburgh Napier University.

Requirement
Two Higher grade passes at grade C or above, including English or equivalent and two other passes at Standard Grade (or equivalent) credit level including a science subject, or completion of a National Qualification programme including Communication, Intermediate 2 and Higher; or Communication 4; also appropriate science and vocational modules. Entry to the course will be upon successful interview with the Course Leader.
