About this course

ibox, two Higher Grade passes, preferably in English, Art or Media Studies and two Standard Grade/Intermediate 2 passes or a suitable group of SQA modules in an acceptable media programme. Applicants should bring their portfolios, show reels or script ideas to information session.

Course Aims:
Provides the knowledge and skills for the world of broadcasting and professional video production. You will develop practical skills and theoretical understanding via challenging video productions both on location and in our TV studio. You will produce music videos, documentaries and dramas with the opportunity to participate in commecial video production.

Course Content:
· Advanced TV Camera ?Level 2 Lighting/Lighting Camera, ?Level 2 Sound Recording & Post-production ?Advanced Editing , Non-linear ?Script Writing, Factual & Non-factual ?Video Graphics, & Effects, 2D & 3D ?Single Camera Recording on Location in a Crew, of Three to Four ?Designing & Creating at Least Two Programmes

Progression Opportunities:
Many students progress to degree courses in media, film and, television often to year 2.

Career Potential:
Opportunities exist at assistant or trainee level, especially in, production companies and freelance crews. Graduates have found, employment as directors, camera operators, sound recordists, editors, and researchers.

Course Assessment:
Assessment is of students ability to apply the skills of pre-production,, production and post production. You will collaborate on or produce, music videos, documentaries and dramas and there may be the, opportunity to participate in commercial video production. There are, also written assessments and emphasis is placed on professionalism, and team work.
