As a result of increasing local and world-wide trade being done through the Internet, as well as its use as a primary source for information, fun, games and socialising, there is a growing demand for qualified staff to maintain their presence and trading ability on the Internet. This is a brand new course and its aim is to provide you with the skills required to play a leading role in development teams for the `front-of-house`creation and maintenance of web sites, as well as the `back-of-house` technical skills necessary to support the Internet infrastructures.
COURSE CONTENT
A selection of core units includes:
The first year will contain a range of units including Programming for the Web using HTML; JavaScript and Visual Basic; Graphics Units using Dreamweaver; Flash, Photoshop, Visual Studio; Interface Design; Multimedia Technology. There will also be an exam with questions selected from core units within the programme. The second year will continue with more advanced work on web site creation and design, and will also introduce the technical side of the Internet with units in: Internet Client Services; Web Server Management; Web Technology and Security; Relational Databases; Professional Issues; and a graded Web Development Project.

PROGRESSION
Successful completion of this course will prepare you for trainee posts in Interactive Media Development as well as provide you with the entry qualifications required for direct entry into the 3rd year of a range of BSc degree programmes at Glasgow Caledonian University and the University of the West of Scotland.
