Two Higher Grade passes at level C or above. Alternatively, a range of SQA modules or other relevant industry qualifications will be considered. HNC in Travel or Tourism may take you directly into year 2. Students with appropriate work experience may be accepted without formal qualifications.

Course Aims:
This course will prepare you for a range of positions in the travel and tourism industry by developing the necessary practical, personal and social skills. The course also includes experience in travel agents' booking systems and an approved certificate which is highly respected in the travel industry. A range of field trips and visits enhance the overall student experience.

Candidates will study the following subjects in addition to those undertaken at HNC level:

  • Surface Transportation & Cruises
  • Desktop Publishing
  • Graded Unit - Project Investigation
  • Work Experience
Progression Opportunities:
Students who successfully complete the HND may progress directly the third year of a relevant degree programme at a range of Scottish universities.

Career Potential:
Successful completion can lead students into supervisory or junior management positions within the industry.

Course Assessment:
The course is assessed by a variety of methods, including computer-based calculations, assignments, role plays, short answer questions, open book assessment and completion of written reports.
