With food security high on the political agenda, there is a growing demand for qualified professionals to work in production horticulture to ensure the sustainable production of food crops as well as supplying plants for the domestic and commercial market. From field-grown vegetables to salad crops grown in increasingly sophisticated glasshouses, cut-flower production, shrubs, trees and herbaceous perennials; production horticulture is an exciting and rewarding career.
The course will introduce you to the underlying horticultural and scientific principles in production horticulture before specialist modules develop your expertise in edible plant production, protected cropping, hardy nursery stock production, and post-harvest management.
