This new qualification will provide opportunities for students to study aspects such as the hospitality industry, people in hospitality, hospitality operations and business and finance in hospitality. There are excellent links with a wide range of employers across the region.

Course Units The principal learning is made up of seven units:

· Exploring the UK hospitality industry
· Customer service in hospitality
· Work in a hospitality team
· Dealing with costs and income in hospitality
· Providing hospitality services
· Menu planning and design
· Food preparation and cooking

The course will also involve the completion of:

· Functional skills in English, ICT and Mathematics
· Work experience (minimum of ten days)
· Personal learning and thinking skills
· A project
· Additional and specialist learning (Qualifications to be arranged)

Assessment Six units are internally assessed by assignment and one unit is externally assessed by examination.

Further Opportunities Students may progress to the Advanced Diploma (Level 3) in Hospitality, National Diploma in Hospitality Management or a career in the hospitality industry.
