Why choose this course? Tourism has been a staple of British industry for many decades, with both domestic and overseas visitors enjoying the delights of the UK, from its beautiful scenery and landmarks to our world-famous attractions and monuments.
The sector is changing and is one of the fastest-growing in the country, and this degree brings new elements of tourism to the fore, combining customer service and hospitality with event management and other key factors related to the entertainment arena.
The success of this degree was reflected in the 2015 National Student Survey, which revealed that 88% of our business students felt they had significantly improved their level of personal development and confidence. We achieve this by working closely with them to understand their abilities and areas for improvement in order to harness their individual potential.

Course programme
- This degree course offers the ultimate in flexibility offering a two, three or four year degree course dependent upon your requirements.
- Our lecturers have significant professional experience in hospitality, tourism and event management.
- Graduates of the BA (Hons) Hospitality, Tourism and Events Management programme will also be awarded a Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership from The Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
- Gaining practical experience and developing commercial competence is a key component of this degree.
- Students enjoy affiliate membership of the Institute of Hospitality whilst studying.
As part of the degree we will provide all of our students with direct, practical experience. It will certainly involve real life event management experience during your studies. However, it could also include the opportunity to take a work placement that will significantly enhance your CV and employment prospects.
In your first year you will study a broad range of business and introductory degree specific modules. You will then progress onto advanced modules that provide greater breadth of knowledge and experience such as managing and executing events, visitor attraction management, gastronomy and oenology, service/ relationship marketing, corporate social responsibility and human resource management.
