Course programme

The UK hotel industry is part of a dynamic, vibrant and growing hospitality sector, with a wide variety of opportunities for well-educated and professional managers. The Hotel Management programme aims to develop students’ capabilities and confidence as potential future hotel managers and hospitality business owners. Unusually, for an undergraduate degree programme, the practical hotel management elements will be undertaken at a real hotel environment. The brand new 4 star Yarrow Hotel, which has been converted from a stunning Grade 2 listed building, is run by East Kent College and professional hoteliers. This provides a rare opportunity for students to gain relevant experience, whilst being supported by industry professionals and trainers. Skills and knowledge in business management are taught alongside this training at the University’s Broadstairs campus. Academic studies will develop the individual’s wider industry knowledge and understanding. This blend of practical professional technical skills development with knowledge and understanding of business management will equip students with the skills and experience that employers in the sector are looking for.
