Household Horrors through the Ages

How will I learn?

Combining teaching and practical exercises the session will endeavour to explore the perilous world of our past domestic lives. Learners will be encouraged to carry out further research and will examine ways in which the Internet can be used to enhance and facilitate the study of local history.

Learners will be able to formulate their own opinions and will:
• work in both small groups and individually
• develop a knowledge and understanding of the horrors of the household
• discuss issues and opinions
• formulate an opinion of what caused problems

What equipment or materials will I need to provide?

A pen and an A4 notepad or book

What other support is available?

Help with numeracy or literacy is available. ICT drop-in sessions are available during term time and are open to all learners. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Learner Support Funding is available for equipment, childcare and travel to learners who qualify. • The home in medieval times
• Georgian families
• Homes of the 19th century
• The 1920s household
