Human Biology and Sports Science degree course structure

Year 1

During your first year you will explore the foundations of sports and exercise biology by taking modules ranging from cell biology and muscle function through to the biomechanics of sports and exercise. Building on your existing knowledge, and filling any gaps there may be, you will also be introduced to the basic skills of biological science at the University level: research, analysis, evaluation and reporting. These are the basis for all your futher studies.

Years 2+3

In the second year you will be able to study the physiological, psychological and/or biomechanical analysis of sports and exercise, and examine the role of sport and exercise medicine. You will also have the opportunity to gain vocational qualifications through work experience. In your final year you will be able to choose a research project that will allow you to specialise in either Human Biology or Sports Science. Alongside your project, you will enjoy topical modules in both disciplines, such as exercise management in health and chronic disease and the psychology of maximal sports performance.
