ICT and Computing (Extended Diploma)

Year 1 Your first year will give you an introduction to the general principles of Computing and ICT. You will learn about how programs are designed and built and will investigate how computers are physically assembled. You will build your own websites using professional tools such as Dreamweaver and use Illustrator and Photoshop to create graphics. You will be shown how data is stored in relational databases for use in software solutions. Year 2 In the second year you will add client and server side scripts to your websites using JavaScript, PHP and MySQL to build fully functional, fully interactive web-based solutions. You will use VB.NET and Visual Studio to further engineer software solutions. You will explore how computer networks are put together and investigate how such networks are secured in the real world. You will learn how to program multimedia animations using Flash and ActionScript. Life after Henley Last year students went on to a variety of destinations including university places at Oxford Brookes, Brunel, Portsmouth, Royal Holloway, Reading, Northampton, Nottingham, Winchester and Essex.
