About the course

In todays economy, there are a wealth of exciting roles where high levels of IT and ICT Skills are required. The ICT Application Specialist Apprenticeships at City College Plymouth enable you to train for a specific role in IT such as an IT clerk, IT support, ICT technician or web technician, or for a more general role such as digital assistant or data administrator. The advanced Apprenticeship will prepare you for a career in roles such as IT application helpdesk support, IT supervisor or website manager. Other more general career routes you could access would be working as an office administrator, working in publishing, multimedia, accounts, sales, marketing or education and training. The ICT Application Specialist Apprenticeship offers a wide range of optional units that you can study to match your particular organisational and job role requirements. The framework is suitable for those whose main job role is to use IT applications in support of colleagues or customers in any sector or industry. As an intermediate or advanced apprentice, you will gain competence, skills and knowledge to work effectively and efficiently with IT systems, communication and productivity tools and software applications. This includes the creation and amendment of many types of formatted information including documents, diagrams, spreadsheets and presentations. The training programme also includes maintaining simple websites, using the internet to find and exchange information and using social media to disseminate information. Upon completion, you may benefit from enhanced career opportunities within the sector and you could also progress to one of the higher-level ICT courses on offer at the College.
