Course programme

  • Web developer: also known as web designers or producers, this job comprises everything related to creating and building websites – from what they look like to the general public, to how they are constructed and held together behind the scenes. The job is both technical and creative, as it involves lots of programming and problem solving, but you also get to play with how a webpage looks and feels.
  • Programmers/applications developers: applications developers programme codes, create and maintain programmes and apps. You will specialise in a certain field (i.e. mobile phones or offices suites) and have expert knowledge of that computer language. You may also be commissioned by clients to come up with a solution to specific app or computing need that they have. You will develop apps from the initial idea, through the building and testing stage, to going live and then repairing or modifying after that.
  • Customer ICT/technical support: in this profession, you troubleshoot all manner of ICT-related problems. You will work on the helpdesk of major hardware and software suppliers and manufacturers. You will use your wide-ranging tech knowledge and communication skills to provide support to end-user businesses and customers and resolve any issues they may be experiencing.
  • Network engineers: network engineering is a technically demanding role that requires skills of analysis, logical thinking and problem solving. You will set up, maintain, update and troubleshoot local and wide area networks and other communication systems for different organisations. When everybody’s internet goes down or computer won’t log on, you’ll be the person to fix it! Network or hardware engineers are also responsible for data storage, security and recovery.
