Course programme
IELTS the International English Language Testing System is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is the language of communication.
IELTS respects international diversity and is fair to anyone who sits the test, regardless of nationality.IELTS conforms to the highest international standards of language assessment and is recognised by professional bodies, immigration authorities and other government agencies.
It is recognised by universities and employers in many countries, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and the USA. IELTS is available in two formats - Academic and General Training.
What modules are covered?Candidates are tested in listening, reading, writing and speaking.
All candidates take the same listening and speaking tests.There is a choice of reading and writing tests - Academic or General Training.
This course will prepare you thoroughly for the test.You will be able to familiarise yourself with the format of the test using a wide range of published preparation materials.
The Academic Module assesses whether a candidate is ready to study or train in the medium of English at an undergraduate or postgraduate level. Admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses should be based on the results of this module.
The General Training Module emphasises language skills in broad social and workplace contexts. It is suitable for candidates who are going to migrate to an English speaking country, for example to Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the UK.
It is also suitable for candidates planning to undertake work experience or training programmes not at degree level or to complete their secondary education. The General Training Module is not designed to test the full range of formal language skills required for academic purposes.
What qualifications will I get?IELTS
How will I be assessed?A score is reported for each of the tests.
The individual test scores are then calculated to produce an Overall Band Score.
IELTS tests have been designed to reflect accurately the candidate's abilities to deal with the English language.
The design of the test makes it statistically unlikely that there will be a great variation in the test scores.The IELTS Band Scores range from 1 (non user) to 9 (expert user).
IELTS tests cover the full range of ability from non-user to expert user.

What else do I need to know?This course runs from the 7th September 2015 until the 1st July 2016. Students can enrol at any time during these dates and they can study for as long as they want.
The running of this course is subject to student numbers.
The minimum age for this course is 16.
Please note that the course fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
What can I do after this course?IELTS is jointly managed by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, British Council and IDP: IELTS Australia.IELTS conforms to the highest international standards of language assessment and is recognised by universities and employers in many countries.
