Course Content
Government Departments are required to prepare their accounts under IFRS-based FReM for the financial year 2009/10.
This introductory level one-day course is designed specifically for accountants who want a greater understanding of IFRS and the potential impact that it will have on government departments (including agencies and NDPBs).
It will focus on taking you through all the big changes in IFRS compared to UK GAAP and then focus on those that will specifically affect those working in the public sector. No prior knowledge of IFRS is assumed.
On some of these courses we will be joined by someone from the Financial Reporting Team at Treasury for the last portion of the course to answer any specific questions that you may have.
Learning outcomes include obtaining a greater understanding of:
- Regulatory environment affecting IFRS based FReM
- Balance sheet issues
- Operating cost statement issues
- Disclosure issues
- Practical examples of impact on government entities
- Real life examples of impact on government entities
Please note the priority and main emphasis of this course is the impact of IFRS on government bodies. This is an introductory level course for those who do not have much prior knowledge. We are able to run bespoke workshops for government departments where we identify specific issues within your own accounts.
