About this course

By the end of the course you will be up to speed on all the basic functionality of Illustrator and capable of creating your own vector artwork from scratch.

This course is aimed at those who want to get to a competent level of ability on Illustrator and who are either self funding or on a limited budget.

You will need an active internet connection and a copy of Illustrator to complete the course.

The course is recorded by Andy Gardiner and Adobe Certified Illustrator Instructor who has over 20 years experience using and teaching Illustrator

Andy has run Highlander for over 25 years and is an Adobe Certified Instructor, Adobe Certified Design Master, CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer and In5 Certified Professional. He specialises in delivering courses at all levels on tools including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and After Effects. In recent years Andy has delivered courses for staff from organisations including Burberry, Manchester City FC, Joe Browns, Mishcon de Reya, Bank of England, Aviva, Lloyds Banking Group, LNER, Eversheds, Interflora and a range of NHS, Police and Government organisations.

Course programme

You will start out by learning the difference between vector and raster images, having looked at the Illustrator interface and new document settings, we then take you step by step in a logical order through Illustrators powerful selection of tools. During the course you will learn how to use the pen tool to create vector shapes, adding and removing anchor points, switching between sharp and smooth corners, and adjusting handles to manipulate curves.
