Course Aims:

Course Content:
Working Safely & Effectively During Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair. Foundation Skills for Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair. Light Vehicle Construction & Routine Maintenance. Operating Principles of Light Vehicle Tyres, Brakes, Steering & Suspension Systems. Operating Principles of Light Vehicle Engines. Operating Principles & Maintenance of Light Vehicle Electrical & Electronic Systems.
Progression Opportunities:
On completion of Level 1, candidates may progress onto the Level 2 Certificate.
Career Potential:
Opportunities exist as automotive mechanics. The IMI Award is also a component of the Modern Apprenticeship in Automotive Engineering. The other component required for the Modern Apprenticeship is the SVQ II/III in Automotive Engineering.
Course Assessment:
Progress through this course is monitored through online testing and continuous assessment.
