Course Aims:
The Level 2 Certificate, like the Level 1 Award, has been designed in consultation with the industry to provide the essential skills and underpinning knowledge required to work within the automotive industry. The course is split approximately 50% practical workshop activities and 50% theory classroom work. The Level 2 Certificate provides the essential knowledge for S/NVQ and has been endorsed as Technical Certificates by Automotive Skills Limited (ASL).

Course Content:
Contribute to Workplace Good Housekeeping. Ensure Your Own Actions Reduce Risks to Health & Safety. Maintain Positive Working Relationships. Carry Out Routine Vehicle Maintenance. Remove & Replace Light Vehicle Engine Units & Components. Remove & Replace Light Vehicle Auxiliary Electrical Units & Components. Remove & Replace Light Vehicle Chassis Units & Components., , Optional Units:, Conduct Pre & Post Work Vehicle Inspections. Valet Vehicles. Remove & Replace Light Vehicle Transmission, Driveline Units & Components.

Progression Opportunities:
On completion, candidates may progress onto the Level 3 Diploma.

Career Potential:
Opportunities exist as automotive mechanics. The IMI Certificate is also a component of the Modern Apprenticeship in Automotive Engineering. The other component required for the Modern Apprenticeship is the SVQ II/III in Automotive Engineering.

Course Assessment:
Progress through this course is monitored through online testing and continuous assessment.
