Course programme
The course is suitable for you if you have a strong interest in vehicle technology and light vehicle maintenance and repair. It provides a natural progression opportunity from Level 1.
What qualifications or experience do I need ?You will need a Level 1 Diploma in light vehicle maintenance and repair plus at least GCSE grade D or Functional Skills level 1 in Maths and English.
What will I study ?You will learn how to; carry out routine vehicle maintenance, conduct pre and post work vehicle inspections, remove and replace engine units and components, remove and replace light vehicle auxiliary electrical units and components, remove and replace light vehicle chassis units and components, remove and replace light vehicle transmission and driveline units and components, maintain and repair hybrid electric vehicle systems.
How will I be assessed ?The course has a wide variety of assessment methods including: practical assessment, on-line testing, unit end-tests & coursework, all of which have to be completed for success.
What qualifications could I achieve ?On successful completion of this course you will receive the IMI Level 2 Diploma in Light vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Vocationally Recognised Qualification - VRQ).
How do I join the course ?You will need to complete an application form and return it to the admissions team either on-line or by post. You will then be interviewed by a member of the course team or other designated interviewer and may be required to complete a pre-enrolment assessment.

Any extra costs for equipment/materials ?Whilst every attempt is made to keep the costs to the candidate to a minimum, the college reserves the right to charge candidates amounts over and above published fees in response to any additional charges from the awarding body. You will need to purchase the department uniform, protective boots and course books. You will also need to pay for some trips and visits
