About this course
People who have a reasonable grasp of Japanese who would like to further develop their confidence and competence in this subject.
Learner who passed the post beginners course or learner who are…..・ Able to recognise basic hiragana characters. (Essential)・ Able to recognise basic katakana characters. (Preferable)・ Be able to count numbers in Japanese (Essential)・ Be able to read the time in Japanese (Essential)・ Have knowledge of Japanese verb conjugations (present, past and those negatives.)・ Have knowledge of Japanese adjective conjugations (present, past and those negatives.)

How will I learn?
・ Conversation practice. (Working with pair, groups and also using games.)

・ Mini review in each session (Reading and writing katakana words and reading Kanji)
・ Portfolio task (self introduction in hiragana characters)
・ Speaking assessment (monitored in the class by teacher)

What equipment or materials will I need to provide?
Purchasing of a course book is recommended. The tutor will inform you of the possible options.
What other support is available?
Help with numeracy or literacy is available. ICT drop-in sessions are available during term time and are open to all learners. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Learner Support Funding is available for equipment, childcare and travel to learners who qualify.
