This course will give you the opportunity to engage in a short Masters level programme in one of the art, design or media subjects taught in Wolverhampton School of Art.

From application, you will work with an academic tutor and be encouraged to propose an independent project that will build on your undergraduate or professional experience. The course will be tailored to your individual project but may provide opportunities for you to learn new skills and work with our specialist technicians in bespoke workshops. You will learn from our academic teams how to develop a body of work that is underpinned by the conceptual and contextual knowledge required at this level of study.

If you enjoy this short course and decide to enrol on a full Masters programme the credits gained may contribute to your final award.

The course runs over 12 weeks in either semester 1 or Semester 2. It is also available in the summer semester depending on the availability of equipment and facilities required.

Course programme

When you apply for this course you will be assigned a subject tutor who will help you to refine your project, ensure it is feasible in the time frame and negotiate the access to resources you require. From the outset you will negotiate tutorial times, technical resources and access to lectures and studio/workshops that you might need to use independently or with support.

Your academic tutor will meet with you regularly and provide formative feedback at a mid-point review to ensure your project is on track. You will be expected to reflect on your journey through tutorials and by documenting your progress and research in sketchbooks, journals and/or an online blog.

At the end of the course you will present your project work for assessment. You will receive written feedback and the opportunity to discuss how you could further develop your work through postgraduate study or other career opportunities.
