About this course

Students aged 16 to 18 will need 28 GCSE points. Students aged 19 or over should have a keen interest in Indian head masage together with a level of general education comparable to GCSE level or equivalent.

Introduction:
Indian Head massage is applied to the head and neck areas. The massage techniquies used are designed to promote relaxation, to relieve stress related muscle tension and to improve blood flow in the head and neck areas. The techniques are ones that have been used for a thousand years on the Indian sub-continent. This qualification has rationalised these techniques to provide students with the skills required to perform professional Indian Head massage treatments.

Study Mode & Location:
This 2 day, intensive course which will be spread over a few weeks, will be held at preston college, Fulwood Campus, St Vincent`s Road, Preston, PR2 8UR.

Students will require two models, which the student must provide, for the last lesson

Course Content:
Units of study include:

  • Support health, safety and security in the workplace (VR02)
  • Support employment standards (VR74)
  • Provide Indian Head Massage (VR69)


Assessment:
Assessment will be carried out during the course by an assessor observing and questioning your practical work. Some aspects of the work will be covered by simulated tasks and assignments, whilst some units have mandatory written papers. One model required for the last lesson which the student is required to provide.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
Successful completion of this course allows progression to a Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques or to a Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Beauty Therapy.

Please note - no canteen facilities will be available throughout this course and therefore it is recommended that you bring a packed lunch for both students and clients.
