About this course

It is recommended that candidates have achieved a minimum of four GCSEs at grades C or above in Maths, Science or English based subjects or an equivalent qualification or suitable industrial experience. Candidates will require an interview and complete a skills assessment. Candidates must be in current employment as a Trainee Electrical Engineer in an industrial environment.

Candidates will require an interview and complete a skills assessment. Candidates must be in current employment as a Trainee Electrical Engineer in an industrial environment.

Content
This will develop practical electrical engineering and maintenance skills working within an industrial environment to allow candidates to demonstrate a level of competence and be assessed to meet National Standards at NVQ level 3, The Technical Certificate will provide the underpinning knowledge to support the candidates training and development covering such things as, science, maths, electrical and electronic principles, PLC controllers and three phase systems.

Assessment
Candidates will be assessed through the use of examinations, practical and theory assignments. Assessment within the workplace will be required to complete the NVQ aspect of their industrial skills.

Progression
Once complete candidates can progress onto a HNC/D in Engineering.

  • Foundation training _ Eight units from the NVQ Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations
  • Technical Certificate - An appropriate Level 3 award such as, ( Btec National Award in Electrical Electronic Engineering)
