Course Structure

The IGCSE Information, Communication & Technology course is designed to follow the structure of Edexcel specification 4TI0 and is divided in to five course module

Unit 1: Hardware, software, memory and storage

The first unit starts by looking at the computer and processing in general terms; what are these devices and how can we use them in everyday life. The unit also looks at methods of data storage and backup

Unit 2: Word processing, desk top publishing and spreadsheets

Word processing is perhaps the most common tool of computing – this unit explores word processing and formatting concepts and also explores desk top publishing in terms of enhancing documents and modelling

Unit 3: Databases, graphics and presentation software

In this unit database creating is explained and explored together with looking at a variety of data storage methods. In addition the unit provides opportunity to look at video and audio editing software components and uses.

Unit 4: Communications, networking and the internet

Using ICT for communication is part of modern life. This unit explores networks, networking and how these tools are used within different contexts including social networking

Unit 5: Applications and the examination

The final unit explores concepts and processes related to web authoring and data capture. In addition there is a dedicated section to help students prepare for the examination
