This course is suitable for applicants want to work within IT support and IT Technical roles, indivduals who want a career that involves the practical application of Computing and IT in businesses. This course assumes no previous experience in Computing or Information Technology and covers a wide range of topics that relate to the subject areas.

The course differs from our Computing HND in two main areas. Firstly, there is a greater emphasis on technology, experienced through studying Computer Systems Engineering and leading to Server Management. Secondly, it covers aspects of Information Systems that will lead to un understanding of how Technology and Information Systems can be used within business environments.

On successful completion of this course graduates will be eligible to undertake a year and a half course to top-up to a BSc (hons) degree.

About this course


Identify and apply appropriate theory, tools and techniques used in the Computing industry (e.g. current and emerging technologies in IT, project management, IT in organisations, practice of programming, data systems, design and construction of web systems, networks and server management) to the servicing of ICT needs of business.

Demonstrate mastery of the essential facts, concepts, principles, theories and practices enabling graduate employment in applications of Information Technology (e.g. information technology planning, deployment and management, information technology project management).

Demonstrate a range of transferable skills in: problem solving; communication; project management; working individually and in teams; self-management ; and the ability to gather, evaluate and reflect on information from relevant sources and synthesise new knowledge and solutions to requirements in the domain of applications of information technology.

2019 Entry
Applicants will normally be expected to hold GCSE English and Maths at Grade C+/4 or equivalent
Plus

A level minimum of grade E, ideally in Science/IT based subject
Access to Higher Education Diploma Full Award (60 credits) with at least 45 credits at Level 3.
Post-16 qualifications, including BTEC should be in a Science/IT based subject
