About this course

Standard entry to this course requires one reference. It is desirable that you can demonstrate 90 attendance at your last place of work or study. You are required to have 4 GCSEs grade 4 (C) or above to include English and maths.

Consideration will be given to all applicants over the age of 19 who do not hold formal English and maths qualifications.

Course programme

Year 1

During the course you will study twelve units that will provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to enter the workplace or progress onto an HND. The units you will study are computer systems; communication technologies; procedural programming using Unity and C ; website production; and communications and employability skills for IT.

Year 2

Topics taught include: information systems, e-commerce, databases, installing and upgrading software, computer animation, computer games platforms, computer graphics and digital graphics.

Additional information

Assessment is via coursework, completed over two years. You will complete a number of activities to ensure that you gain the skills and knowledge you need to evidence in your work that your skills and understanding are sufficient to pass each unit or achieve higher grades. Grades are pass, merit and distinction.
