What are the main features of this course?
This is a one year course leading to a GCSE. The course is about how computers work and the part played by IT in our society. It continues the approach to IT in the National Curriculum, but in a more specialised way. Students do both theory work in class and practical work on computers.

How is the course assessed?
By coursework and final written exams.

Who should study this course?
You need the standard College entry requirements for GCSEs with English GCSE at Grade D and you should have some previous experience in using computers. Both male and female students follow this course.

Where can I go next?
Students can progress to A/S level Computing or ICT or BTec National Diploma in IT Practioners. Skills acquired here are useful in all other areas of study.
