About this course

Standard entry to this course requires one reference. It is desirable that you can demonstrate 90 attendance at your last place of work or study. You are required to have 4 GCSEs grade 4 (C) or above to include English and maths.

Consideration will be given to all applicants over the age of 19 who do not hold formal English and maths qualifications.

Course programme

Year 1

During the first year of the programme you will study the following subjects: communication and employability skills; e-commerce; procedural programming; website production; computer systems; networking; database design; and IT technical support. In addition to the main course content, the course will cover maths and English and work experience as both of these are important for applying to university, apprenticeships or employment.

Year 2

In the second year of this course, you will continue to study units that will provide you with knowledge of a wide range of different subjects within the IT sector.

Additional information

Assessment is via coursework completed over two years. You will need to evidence in your work that your skills and understanding are sufficient to pass each unit or achieve higher grades. Grades are pass, merit and distinction. If you have a disability you may be allowed additional time to complete the examination. If you have particular study requirements please tell us as soon as possible.
