Course programme

A candidate must complete a minimum total of 180 Unit Values (UVs).

Mandatory unit:

  • IT security for users (UV = 25)
  • Artwork and imaging software (UV = 35)

  • Email (UV = 25)
  • Word processing software (UV = 30)
  • Spreadsheet software (UV = 35)
  • Database software (UV = 35)
  • Website software (UV = 35)
  • Presentation software (UV = 30)
  • Specialist or bespoke software (UV = 30)
  • Evaluate the impact of IT (UV = 25)
  • Use IT systems (UV = 25)
  • Use IT to exchange information (UV = 25)
  • Sector specific unit (UV = 30)

In order to achieve an Advanced Apprenticeship, Key Skills (Communication Level 2 and application of Level 2) and a Knowledge Certificate (e.g. IT Key Skill at Level 3, CLAIT at Level 3 or Certificate for IT Users Level 3) are required to be added to this NVQ.

Like all NVQs, this qualification is competence based. This means that it is linked to the candidate’s ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work.
