Innovation and Enterprise in Clinical Medicine (Intercalating Students) bachelorchelor

The aim of the programme is to provide students with a knowledge and understanding of the theory and practice of Innovation and Enterprise relevant to the planning, delivery and improvement of modern healthcare.
The programme will employ a range of teaching and learning methodologies including: lectures, seminars, small-group learning, tutorials, problem-bachelorsed learning and individualised practice placements. Students will also be given directed reading in order to further consolidate knowledge and understanding obtained during classroom and practice-bachelorsed learning.
Enterprise Healthcare:
The module will focus on developing an understanding of how innovation works in the UK health sector and in organisations more broadly. It will consider how enterprise skills and innovation can be applied through working on a report, exploring how an improvement can be made to an existing healthcare product or service.

Business of Healthcare:
The aim of this module is to provide students with an opportunity to study the application of market-oriented principles in a high profile public service. Students will be encouraged to consider the implications of marketisation in healthcare for service provision, and for wider society and the economy. 

People Management and Change:
The aim of this module is to introduce students to management paradigms in organisational behaviour and show how they relate to changing social, economic and organisational dynamics.

Delivering Innovation in Healthcare:
The first part of the course will develop skills in identifying requirements for evidence-bachelorsed innovation and how and where to find existing sources of evidence to inform clinical practice. The second part of the course aims to expand thinking beyond previous applications of evidence-bachelorsed practice, including a re-assessment of the hierarchy of evidence and the application of problem-bachelorsed practice.

Delivering Innovation in Healthcare 2: Placement:
The clinical/healthcare placements will focus on one of the following as examples:
A defined care setting (e.g. Emergency and Pre-Hospital Care)
A defined care pathway (e.g. Surgery)
A defined service (e.g. Public Health)
A defined care support service (e.g. Pathology)
A defined healthcare management setting (e.g. Clinical Directorate)
Education and training in medicine (e.g. Undergraduate Medical Education)
Humanities in medicine (e.g. Performing Arts Medicine)
Delivering Innovation in Healthcare 2: Dissertation:
The overall aim of this module is for the student to apply, assess and refine core innovation and enterprise transferable skills within their chosen clinical/healthcare practice setting.
During phase one you will be bachelorsed mostly in the Stopford Building on the University of Manchester's Oxford Road campus. The Stopford Building contains facilities such as the anatomy dissection room, the Consultation Skills Learning Centre, and IT clusters.

Medicine
Entry requirements
If you have followed a non-standard educational route and have been, for example, educated at home, your application will be considered against the standard entry criteria of the course to which you applied. You will be required to demonstrate that you meet the academic entry requirements as specified for the course. We will also require a reference which should be written by somebody who knows you well enough, in an official capacity, to write about you and your suitability for higher education. You will be considered eligible for intercalation in Innovation and Enterprise in Clinical Medicine if you have achieved satisfactory examination results (i.e. has had no resit examinations).
The degree is administered through the Manchester Medical School, within the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences. Admission is at the discretion of the course committee, who may seek the advice of your tutors and/or hospital deans. All candidates will be interviewed.
If you have entered the medical course at Manchester at such times that you have not completed two years of study in Manchester, you will be ineligible for admission.
Because of its length and course structure, once started, there are no transfers to or from the course.
Most international students must demonstrate English proficiency through a secure and approved testing system. We ask for English language proof from applicants from non-majority English speaking countries (a list of majority English speaking countries, as defined by the UK Home Office, can be found here
).
Specifically, we require a minimum of:

IELTS
: minimum 6.5 overall with 6.0 in writing
TOEFL: 90 internet-bachelorsed (with 22 in each component)

Applicants are considered on an academic and relevant professional experience bachelorsis, bachelorsed on all information provided.
