Intensive Flower Design

This four week course is all about the contemporary approach to working with flowers. You will take inspiration from modern architecture, fashion, culture and craft. Design arrangements, sculpt with flowers and construct physical pieces that are works of art!

You will have guest lectures from designers and businesses to give you a real perspective of modern floral design, how to work to a brief, successful event management and how to source the finest flowers and accessories. You will also be working with flowers beyond the physical arrangement toward a source of inspiration for surface design decoration and textiles and explore how flora can enhance architecture and interior design.

There will be visits to places of interest to see events and flowers in action, and there is the possibility of a live project being integrated into the course for you to see your work outside the studio. No previous experience is necessary – just a willingness to experiment, get involved in group projects and the creativity to make this exciting medium a modern art form. By the end of the course you will have good design and marketing skills, a portfolio of sketches, a range of photographs of your work and the knowledge of how to continue your work. This is a studio-based course though there will be sessions exploring London through the eyes of a floral designer.
