On this practical short course you will learn how to design the interior space of one room to use as a starting point for further rooms. This could be a room in your home that needs updating or an interior space for a friend or colleague.

You will learn about determining space requirements, generating design ideas and selecting decorative items, such as colours, lighting, furnishings and materials.
You will also learn how to create and interpret a plan and elevation drawing and gain an awareness of relevant regulations and standards.

About this course

Course programme

- determining project goals and objectives

- developing plans and specifications relative to interior spaces
- selecting and specifying fixtures, furnishings, products, materials and colours
- relevant building and safety codes.

You will be taught using a range of techniques including workshops, short lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises, tutorials, group and individual assistance and hand-outs. You will be encouraged to carry out some preparatory research and design work for the course. This will be discussed with you by your tutor in the first session.
