The Apprenticeship programme will provide you with valuable training in all aspects of facial, make-up, waxing, eye treatments, and manicure and pedicure techniques. You will need to be employed in a suitable salon, which is willing to support you in gaining a nationally recognised qualification at Level 2 specialising in beauty therapy. This programme is fully funded for 16-18 age groups, and partially funded for the 19+ age group. THERE WILL BE NEW STANDARDS INTRODUCED AS PART OF THE APPRENTICESHIP REFORM ACROSS ALL THE OCCUPATIONAL AREAS FROM 2015.
APPRENTICESHIP FRAMEWORK
The Framework is made up of the following components. In order to be successful you must complete and achieve all elements. The programme is practically based and structured so that the underpinning theory is delivered alongside the relevant practical work.
• MAIN NVQ
The full NVQ Level 2 Beauty qualification consists of mandatory units and optional units that link to the different routes.
The 3 routes which you can choose from are as follows:
• General
• Make-Up
• Nails
• FUNCTIONAL SKILS
Level 1 English
Level1 Maths
• EMPLOYMENT RESPONSIBILITIES AND RIGHTS & EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY
This is an assignment based project
• PERSONAL LEARNING AND THINKING SKILLS
You will need a salon uniform and will be advised with regard to the kit required. There will also be a £35 fee to cover trips and activities.

Course programme
The programme provides you with a Level 2 qualification and the skills necessary for your career in Beauty Therapy It will enable you to develop your expertise in the salon and progress onto a Level 3 programme to develop your creative and technical skills further.
You will be interviewed as part of the admissions process which will include screening and a trade assessment. Ideally you should have 3 GCSEs grade C or above in English and Maths and one other subject. The successful applicants will be expected to show the personal qualities required for working in the Beauty Therapy industry. To enrol, you MUST be currently employed for a minimum of 30 hours in a beauty salon to start an Apprenticeship. Please contact us should you need help in finding suitable employment. Apprentices are paid a wage by the employer. Your employer is required to give you a contract of employment, which will include holiday entitlement and all other benefits.
We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability at CRC. To make this happen we offer both learning and personal support by specialist staff tailored to meet your specific needs.
You will be observed carrying out commercial activities mainly in the workplace but also in our modern, well-equipped salons within the College, which provide a realistic commercial setting in which you can gain experience in dealing with clients.
You will have the opportunity to use an extensive range of high quality beauty products and excellent new specialist equipment.
You will be expected to demonstrate your competence in all units to the standard required in industry.
Assessment takes place throughout the programme by a variety of methods including :
• practical assessment
• oral assessment
• written assessment
• projects
• completion of a portfolio
• completion of a log book
There will be independent assessment papers relating to treatment knowledge.
