Intermediate NVQ Level 2 Apprenticeship in Barbering Framework

This programme provides you with a basic qualification and the skills necessary to enable you to work in industry as a qualified Barber with possible progression on to becoming a Senior Barber, Salon Manager or a Salon Owner. Should you wish to join a level 3 programme to develop your creative and technical skills with a view to developing your career in the salon we will be happy to advise you.

Candidates will be interviewed as part of the admissions process which will include screening and a trade assessment. Ideally, candidates should have 3 GCSEs at grade C or above, in English, Maths and one other subject. The successful applicants will be expected to show the personal qualities required for working in the barbering industry. To enrol you MUST be employed over 30 hours per week in a barber/unisex salon to start an Apprenticeship, please contact us should you need help in finding suitable employment. Apprentices are paid a wage by the employer. Your employer is required to give you a contract of employment, which will include holiday entitlement and all other benefits.

In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process.

Learners will be assessed in the workplace using a variety of methods including observation, practical assessments, questioning, professional discussions, producing a portfolio of competence-based evidence which will include witness testimonials, candidate statements, and photographic evidence. Candidates are also required to sit online examinations in College.
