International Business Diploma (IBD) (Leading to year 3, BA, BA Marketing or BA IT, -University of Wales)

Why take this course?

There are many benefits to studying on an IBD programme at Kensington College of Business.

• Firstly, the majority of our students take this course as a quick and cost effective way of gaining entry on the third year of a Business, Marketing or Finance degree from the University of Wales.
• Many students will decide to pursue this programme over an eighteen months timeframe for example; February – June, September – December, February – June. Other students may wish to condense their study into one year, February – June, July – August, September – December. With either option, students will save both time and money. For easy reference, please see the diagram below.
• Secondly, this is a student friendly programme. The assessment is based on 30% coursework and 70% exam. Course works and exams are internally set.
• Thirdly, there are IBD exams held in June, December and September. These exams dates give students more flexibility and correspond to entry dates on the third year of the degree. The flexibility of delivery and assessment is far greater than equivalent professional qualifications.
• Fourthly, this programme is specially designed to provide the skills and knowledge which will help students when they progress to year three of our University of Wales degree.
• Fifthly, successful students well attain a diploma in business accredited by the NCFE.

Career Opportunities

• The IBD course is specially designed to provide students with the practical skills and knowledge needed in the world of business and/or the academic skills needed for progression on to a UK degree programme.
• The IBD Course provides successful students with opportunities to pursue a career in general management and/or in finance within private, public and not-for-profit sector organizations.

COURSE CONTENT AND ASSESSMENT There are three levels of IBD, Diploma, Advance Diploma and Higher Diploma. Students entry point is dependent on previous qualifications attained by students. Each diploma starts in either February for June exams, July for August exams, or September for December exams. Assessment is based on 70% examinations plus 30% coursework. All assessments are internally set but standards are maintained through double marking and external marking accredited by NCFC.

Course Duration and structure The course duration is usual eighteen months – February, September, February but students can take our intensive summer programme to potentially speed up delivering into one year.
