About this course

You will have around 15 hours of lecture and seminar contact time with WBS academics and will be expected to complete around 20 hours of private study per week. This may include preparing for seminars and lectures by reading set texts, working through problem sets, participating in group work, writing essays and reports, and revising for tests and examinations.

Course programme

In your first year modules could include Introduction to Financial Accounting; Quantitative Analysis for Management I; Foundations of Financial Management; Management, Organisations and Society; Operations Management; CORE Practice; Markets, Marketing and Strategy and Integrative Project and a double French language module.

Second year modules could include Economics for Business; Global Environment of Business; Economics of Strategy; Global Integrative Project; Governance, Politics and Corporate Accountability, double French language and a further three elective modules taken from a range of topics such as marketing, strategy, entrepreneurship, accounting, finance or economics.

Year 3: Whether you are studying or working abroad in a French speaking environment, you will also take two core modules: International Business in Context, and Year Abroad Portfolio which are submitted on your return in Year 4. This year counts for 10% of your final degree classification. You will attend a three day seminar in Term 2, which typically takes place in Venice, and is an assessed part of your degree. Year 3 includes exams at partner institutions (not counted) and two assignments submitted August/September.

Year 4: you may study Critical Issues in Management , French language, International Perspectives in Business, and also take five electives from a range of topics such as marketing, strategy, entrepreneurship, accounting, finance or economics.

How will I learn?

Teaching is delivered via lectures and seminars. Lectures will be in larger groups of up to 450 in your first year, and seminars (also known as tutorials) are taught in smaller groups of around 20-25. As you progress to your second and final years you will find that some of the lectures are smaller as you all follow different optional modules.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through a combination of end of year examinations and on-going assessments, which may include essays, research assignments, projects, case study analysis, class tests, presentations and group work.
