This course prepares you for management roles in the dynamic and global hospitality industry. By studying this programme you will acquire industry relevant knowledge and develop skills to help you plan and manage resources and enhance consumer experiences. You will be equipped to work within the contemporary hospitality industry and prepared for management careers with worldwide work opportunities.

The foundation year of this course is designed to offer applicants who do not have the required qualifications, a programme which will equip them with a robust toolkit of academic, digital and personal skills required for successful study in higher education. It also provides an understanding of, and insight into, a range of disciplines that underpin their chosen programme of study. In the foundation year students will develop their ability to gain the most out of structured in-class study, and also to manage and evaluate their own independent learning. This wide range of transferable skills is of immense value in both undergraduate study and graduate employment. Upon successful completion of the foundation year, students will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of their subject area to degree level.

About this course

As a graduate of this course you will be able to:

strategically analyse and evaluate the regional, national and international business environment and its impact on the local hospitality environment
demonstrate the knowledge and enterprising skills required in managing an international hospitality function
use industry-specific digital technology, in the context of developing and managing a contemporary hospitality business
recognise and value the importance of the hospitality consumer, their needs, experience, and diversity, in both the operational and strategic contexts
apply appropriate theoretical concepts to dynamic and diverse hospitality concerns such as gourmet restaurants, pub franchises or international hotels
manage the complex relationships between the key industry players, whilst acknowledging the social responsibility of the 21st century hospitality manager.
