Your smart phone, washing machine, refrigerator, watch, automobile and many other electric appliances may talk the same language. The only thing that is needed is the Internet. A self-service checkout counter, or a number-identifying and automatically opening barrier at the shopping centre parking, a smart traffic light that turns on the green light to the approaching vehicle are only a few examples of the internet of things that are abundant in any household or settlement.
The internet of things may be compared to a conversation among various items, when one thing generates data, while another one transmits it. This field is not new, however, only recently it has gained a huge acceleration with the appearance of possibility to have the Internet access in any spot on Earth.
The Internet of Things Engineering study programme is aimed at preparation of specialists, who are able to think outside the box and make this communication among things serve people. This speciality unites three major engineering branches - electronics, informatics, and telecommunication advanced technologies.
Knowledge of electronics lets create not very sophisticated interpolation and computerized systems, e.g.sensors that track water or electricity consumption. Knowledge of telecommunication helps understand complex modern data transfer networks and cloud computing technologies, e.g.how to transfer sensor data to water or electricity suppliers' IT systems. Knowledge of informatics lets programme interpolation systems (modern electronic equipment), create and implement telecommunication protocols, programme user interfaces, cloud computing solutions, smart equipment, internet websites. E.g. It will help calculate how much one has to pay for the services.
