Master of Science in Information Technology and Engineering

In the last decade, the Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm and Next Generation Wireless Technologies (5G, 6G) have been increasingly conquering the minds of researchers and engineers. Now it is one of the most promising fields of the Industry 4.0 with the market value of more than $100 bln and stable annual growth.

Skoltech (TOP-100 Young Universities 2019 Nature Index) MSc program in the Internet of Things and Wireless Technologies is truly multidisciplinary and highly vocational. In addition to the lecture-based study, the program includes summer industrial placement, international study and practical classes. Our faculty is actively involved in research, while students benefit from their expert knowledge and the university's cutting-edge research facilities.

Math: Calculus, Differential equations, Linear algebra, Probability theory and mathematical statistics, Discrete mathematics

Education:
BS degree in Information and Communication Technology, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Applied Physics, Mathematics.

Research-based teaching
All Skoltech faculty and academic staff are engaged in internationally recognized scientific research across a wide range of topics. We incorporate findings from this research into teaching.

Facilities
The campus is equipped with the latest facilities for teaching and research including 5G Skolkovo test zone. The labs (IoT Lab, Huawei-Skoltech Lab) are also equipped with industry-standard hardware and software.

International study and Industrial experience
All courses are taught in English. Top students are granted internships for international studies (up to 6 months). The majority of students' projects are in collaboration with industry partners.
Career
Program graduates work in the private and public sector in software engineering, communications, manufacturing, etc. Alternative option is undertaking the research degrees (PhD) in Russia (Skoltech) or overseas (Stanford, ETH Zurich).

Degree structure

1 Lectures and seminars

Our degree program is truly multidisciplinary and highly vocational. We provide the opportunity of designing the individual study plans which cover compulsory and optional courses.

2 ResearchAll academic staff are research active and draw on close links to our research partners in Russia and overseas. Students may start their own research project within the first year and publish research results in a reputable journal or conference proceedings.
3 EnterpreneurshipIn addition to academic lectures, you will attend lectures/talks/seminars given by experienced entrepreneurs and business leaders. On completion, students will graduate with the knowledge and experience of setting up their own start-up.
4 Internship8-week industrial placement after the 1st year, working on a substantial project and gaining first hand experience of the practical application of IoT and wireless technologies.

Curriculum

2 years of master's studies are equivalent to 120 ECTS credits. They are awarded for the courses taken, but also for research work, disciplines in entrepreneurship and innovation, and an internship in the industry.
This program is also available in a network form with TUSUR (Tomsk), SUAI (St. Petersburg), Bauman MSTU (Moscow), SFEDU (Taganrog), UNN (N. Novgorod), SPbSUT (St. Petersburg) and MSU (Moscow).
