Course programme

Electrical, electronic or programmable electronic systems (E/E/PESs) increasingly carry out safety functions in all application sectors. For computer systems technology to be effectively and safely exploited, it is essential that critical guidance is given on the safety aspects of these systems. This international standard provides a basis for best practice by considering all relevant E/E/PESs and software safety life cycle phases, from concept to implementation and finally decommissioning. The course provides delegates with an understanding of relationships between all parts of the standard as well as an overview of hazard and risk assessment including the concept and derivation of Safety Integrity Levels. Key concepts relating to the achievement of functional safety are covered as are the implications of software and hardware design.
