INTRODUCTION TO SILVER JEWELLERY MAKING

Course Outline:
This beginners silver jewellery course will include all the information and practical instruction needed to allow students to complete at least two pieces of work over the two day period, irrespective of experience. Students will be able to bring their ideas and creativity into being through the art of silversmithing and jewellery making, starting with a simple ring and progressing to a chain or bracelet. The techniques of annealing, soldering, stone setting, finishing and polishing will be explored.
Materials/Items to Bring:
All tools and machinery will be supplied for use during the course, but are limited. If you have small needle files or smooth jawed pliers or a small blow torch (the type used for cooking) and a dremel, please bring them with you. Please bring a piece of very fine wet/dry sandpaper, a soft cloth, sketchbook and pencil. Students may come with designs already prepared which can be adapted to suit individual ability by the Tutor.
Please wear comfortable clothing and bring an apron.
