Course programme

Course review:

It is a practical and theoretical excursion into the world of wood finishing. This will include surface preparation, staining, French Polishing, grain filling, and wax finishing.

You will learn to differentiate between a choice of finishing systems and practice their application.

Students will make up their own superior materials, such as wood stain, shellac , wax polish, & wax sticks and then be taught how to apply them to a supplied project.

Most materials (including the course project) will be supplied within the price, but students will be asked to bring along some basic items.

Course notes will be provided.

No longer will you be limited to a big brush and a tin of varnish, as you are made aware of the different effects you can achieve by selecting different finishing systems.

Whatever it is that you want to "finish" after the course, be it furniture (new or old), DIY projects, or hobby items, you will be able to take your new skills and knowledge and apply them to your own items.
