About this course


Successful completion of a relevant level 2 qualification, or 5 GCSEs (grades A*- C) including English and maths. Candidates should have a strong interest in the area of ICT and be able to discuss why they wish to do this. Students will need to be committed to their study and be responsible for their own learning.

This programme is designed to give the learner the relevant training and education required to work within an IT environment. Learning through practical and theory sessions at College is teamed with work-based experience and training in order to achieve the Advanced IT Application Specialist Apprenticeship.



What will I learn?

The IT Application Specialist Advanced Apprenticeship course combines developing practical and theoretical skills at College, together with experience gained in the workplace and covers:


IT Application Specialist QCF Level 3 Diploma, core units:

  • Understanding the Potential of IT

  • Improving Productivity using IT

  • Developing Personal and Team Effectiveness


Optional units include:



  • Optimise IT System Performance

  • Using Collaborative Technologies

  • Audio and Video Software

  • Computerised Accounting Software


Students will also undertake Employment Rights and Responsibilities and Functional Skills Level 2 in English, Maths and ICT.


What Next

Possible progression to a level 4 qualification.

Considering an apprenticeship?

You can apply for both an apprenticeship, and a full-time course as your back up,
but note that you will need to do some research to find an employer willing to take you on as an apprentice
if you do not already have one.

ready to complete your apprenticeship with.
